Never End by L. Aiko

We had just got everyone who knew out of the wards. We were at war. Hiding and building. They didn’t want us to fight but they had to be stopped. We had weapons and bombs and we had the man power we just needed to be strong and fight.

The first atomic bomb had gone off but there was not time to feel anything and since it did not directly affect us we moved on.

I was on the road to the big building with two of my clan when I saw a commotion up ahead. A member of the organization was about to advance on a fellow clan member. I had a bomb. I called for my fellow clan member to run and I threw the bomb. It detonated on the organization member. I felt a moment of remorse but only a moment.

A gleam of light caught the corner of my eye and I turned around. My two other clan members stopped too. It was a mushroom cloud. It was close.

We sat down and I closed my eyes. I asked my fellow clan member to hold me and I closed my eyes. It was a good feeling not to go through this alone.

Through my closed eyes, it was bright. White.

The earth rumbled! I was waiting for the heat.

The wind blew hard.

On my skin the wind hit hard like a sand storm, grainy and sharp.  The heat was coming and quick.

But all of a sudden there was blackness behind my closed eyes and a whistling noise so loud that nothing else mattered. The noise quickly reminded me of a tea kettle after it has reached its boiling point, that memory was replaced with me trying to cover my ears.

Then nothing. Floating. Blackness with dull stars. No pain.

My only thought, “will I got to heaven? I just killed a man.”
